You know there is a difference in the way devout Muslims dress in compared with the Western World, is there a difference in modest Christian clothing as compared with the way others dress? Or devout Jewish people? Are religious people more modest than their non-religious counterparts? Culture and religion does plays a part in how people think about modesty and dress. Some religions are very strict in their dress codes; others have guidelines for their member to follow.

Muslim Dress Code

Muslims are the most rigid in their form of dress, especially for women. A devout Muslim woman must have her entire body covered; only the hands and sometimes the face can be visible. The material must not be sheer, thin, or see through. The fabric must be loose so that no body shape is apparent. The women’s clothing must not resemble men’s clothing. There must not be anything bold, bright or attractive on the cloth. The philosophy is that women must be protected from the lust of men. The world is a sexual place and the wearing of provocative clothing promotes these ideals. It is written in the Quran, “O Prophet! Tell thy wives and thy daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks close round them. That will be better, so that they may be recognized and not harassed. Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful.

Hijab is the law that governs women’s attire in the Muslim world. It does vary a little by country. Some Western European countries have banned the wearing of the headdress as a security measure. France is one of these. Tunisia and Turkey have banned the veiled faces as more of a political movement. They feel the hijab is a sign of political Islam and fundamental promotes feelings against secular government.

Christian Dress

The laws governing Muslim dress are stick and heavily enforced in Muslim countries, what about rules and guidelines covering Christian dress, is there such a thing? Christian churches are varied and vast. Many non-practicing people consider themselves Christian, even though they rarely or never visit a church. For those that are more devout, some Christian’s do try to be more modest in their dress.

For example, Mormons teach that the body is sacred and should be respected. The wearing of tight, revealing and immodest clothing is discouraged. Young girls are taught that respecting themselves and their bodies will lead to a fuller, richer life with young men, better marriages and family relations. If girls show more respect for themselves with the way they dress and conduct themselves, boys will too.

Jewish Dress

While many Jews dress is the same as other religions in the Western Cultures they do have ceremonial clothes worn for wedding, and other special occasions. Hasidic Jews wear tallit or Jewish prayer shawls while reciting their morning prayers as well on the Sabbath. The tallit has special knots tied in the fringe attached to its four corners. The knots represent laws that are outlined in the Koran. The Tefillin are a pair of black leather boxes that contain scrolls with bible verses inscribed on them. Jews wear these on their arms, hands and fingers and the head-tefillinis worn above the forehead as a remembrance.

Religion and Dress

While various religions wear specific dress denoting culture, customs and believes unique to them, modest Christian clothing is coming into vogue as girls realize that ultimately what they wear is a sign of how they want to be treated.

If you’re a man, getting a haircut, whether a small trim or a drastic cut, can seem like a huge ordeal. You trust your hair in the hands of another man so you may become paranoid or suspicious that your cut will be a disaster when a stranger in a white apron takes the scissors out.

You want the best results so you can leave the shop with a clean cut and an improved self-image. Fortunately, you don’t have to face any hair crises if you know the proper way to communicate with your barber in Sherman Oaks. If you know the basics of hair cutting and how to talk to your barber, you can have your best hair cutting experience yet.

How to Prepare

In order to have your cut go as smoothly as possible, make all the necessary arrangements. This means selecting a barber that you know will give you satisfying results. You can return to a barber who gave a quality cut previously or you can ask friends for referrals. Either way, you’ll want to make an appointment with a barber who knows how to communicate well. Next, be prepared to say what you specifically want. Know what style you’re going for, and if necessary, bring a photo of a cut you want. When you show up to your appointment, come with your hair clean and free from the effects of hat hair. This will improve the process of hair cutting and your barber will be grateful for that.

How to Make Appropriate Requests

Throughout the cut, know how to talk with the barber. He wants to help you, so you have to help him. First of all, tell him what the general style you’re going for so he can get an idea of what you want to achieve. Then get into the specifics. You should know about tapering, arching, necklines, and texture. Most haircuts have a taper of some kind, meaning your hair starts out long at the crown but gets shorter as it reaches the neckline. Some prefer subtle tapers, others like drastic tapers, and some men prefer that every hair be the same length. Another consideration to make when you get your haircut is arching.

The arch refers to the distance between the hair and the top of the ear. You can have a high arch so you won’t have to have another haircut soon or if you want your ears to appear larger. Or you may prefer a natural arch since this looks, well, more natural. As for your neckline, you can have the hair on back of your neck be cut in a blocked, round, or tapered shape. A blocked cut simply means a square shape and a round neckline is the same thing, only the edges are curved.

A tapered shape means the hairs become shorter as it descends the neckline. One last thing to tell your barber is how textured you want your hair to be. If you’re going for volume, ask for a choppy cut or a layered cut. If you want an edgier and practical cut that is easier to style, ask for a razored haircut. If you have particularly thick hair, request thinning shears for your cut. If you’re prepared and you know how to make the right requests, you should have no problem at all communicating with your barber in Sherman Oaks.

Every man needs to do it at some point in his life. Some men need to do it twice a day, but most only need to do it once a day. It is an activity that few men think about, and when they do, it is a chore that invokes memories of pain and blood – and not in a good way.Yes, shaving can be a difficult activity, and it is certainly one that men try to avoid much to the general chagrin of their significant others.

However, shaving does not have to be an ordeal akin to facing one of the seven tasks of Hercules. This activity does not have to be equated with other tasks of Sisyphean proportions. Instead, the right shave set can make this task more enjoyable and less painful than what it has been in the past.

What is in a Shaving Set?

A shaving set should contain shaving oil, shaving soap, a high quality shaving brush, a razor and after shave. Shaving cream can be a substitute for shaving soap, but it is important that the shaving cream be of high quality. A supermarket aerosol can just won’t cut it for the premium experience. The shaving oil prepares the face for the shaving experience. It also helps protect the face as the first layer of lubricant and hair softening agents.Unscented is best. The shaving soap provides the lather, another lubricant and more protection from nicks and cuts and razor burn. It needs to be lathered up and placed on top of the shaving oil. The brush should be made of badger hair. Silver tip badger hair is the best. The after shave is used when the shaving is done. It should provide a bracing shock of freshness that will tighten the face.

What About the Razor?

The razor is the most important part of the shave set. Skimp elsewhere if you must, but never skimp on the razor. A straight edge razor will provide the closest shave and the manliest experience. Safety razors may also be used, but they should fit the grip of the man who is going to use them. The only time one should use a disposable razor is only when the situation is dire. If it means the difference between making a big sale and not, then one must do what one must, but it isn’t recommended to submit the man’s face and the environment to such torture.

Ladies, let’s be honest. There’s always that one little number from DownEast swimwear every summer that you absolutely fall in love with. You know that it is the right fit for you because you have tried it on several times. Every time you try it on, you envision yourself poolside, or at the beach, wearing a floppy hat and cute sandals. You have your umbrella for shade and sunscreen next to your towel. You have finally achieved that perfect tan where you still look human, but have some color.

The color of your dream swimsuit contrasts perfectly with your skin tone. That is, until you wear it for a few times and the color of the swimsuit starts fading, the top starts wrinkling in a weird way and the bottoms start to wear. It’s always so disappointing when you look at your perfect swimsuit and ask yourself, “What could I have done to prevent it from wearing so fast?” Here are some tips to help you keep you swimsuit in tip-top shape to last you several summers.

While You Wear It

Have you ever noticed that the bottoms of swimsuits will eventually start feeling rough? That is because the fibers in the fabric are beginning to become undone. Although this is normal, you can slow down the wear by avoiding rough surfaces. Whenever possible, bring a towel with you and sit on that. Avoid sitting on the steps or edges of pools that are textured. If you are on the beach, sit on a towel at all times.

Whenever you’re near any body of water, it’s reasonable to expect a plethora of products to come in contact with your swimsuit, from tanning lotion to sunscreen. That also means that you will most likely stain your swimsuit when you apply the products. If you do, make sure that you rinse your suit with cold water as soon as it gets on the swimsuit. Otherwise, you risk staining it. Always rinse your swimsuit in cold water after each wear and layout to dry before throwing it in a hamper. If you throw it in wet, the color will bleed onto your other clothes.

While You Wash It

Washing DownEast swimwear is fairly easy as long as you know what you are doing. Remember that your swimsuit is made from delicate fabric and must be washed accordingly by hand. It is easy to throw your swimsuit in the washing machine. However, the washing machine may still be too rough even if it is on its lowest setting. Always air dry your swim suits instead of throwing them in the electric dryer. The dryer can also wreak havoc on your precious swimsuit by moving the breast pads around and creasing them. Squeeze (don’t wring) the water out of your swimsuit and lay it out in a shady area to dry. Make sure that the pieces don’t overlap because the color can still bleed if it is wet. Also, lay it out flat so that you prevent wrinkles in the swimsuit and in the breast pads.

When a woman goes out she tends to wear a little jewelry that accents her mood and outfit. Although she may have an elaborate collection of gold, diamonds, and other precious stones stashed in a safe, a woman who is dressing casually will not typically choose to wear her more formal jewelry. Instead she will opt for some pieces that are less flashy. Women like to wear bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and rings, but they prefer the more subtle appearance of trendy jewelry that is at home when worn with a pair of jeans or a business suit. Whatever the occasion a few trinkets provide the right accessories for any occasion. Bracelets that have charms hanging from them are one of the more common looks that women everywhere enjoy.

Jewelry should be Worn Every Day

Every day jewelry is not just for soccer moms and trendy young women it is worn by every woman who feels the need to dress up their clothing choices. Far from the red carpet, female celebrities can be seen wearing the fashion accessories that add some color and coordination to their fashions. Oversize rings, long dangling earrings and smartly adorned pendants each offer the fashion accessories that are free to be worn every day. Even some men are seen around Hollywood wearing a bracelet that has a definitely masculine quality to it. When they are not on the set of a production or being escorted down the red carpet many celebrities like to be relaxed in their choice of clothing. With the option to accessorize, most women will find an article of jewelry that is a perfect complement to their personality. Long chains that support a piece of silver or a semiprecious stone are all the rage in the fashion world. So too are the earrings that hang from the lobe down to the neck.

Women are at Home with Jewelry Accents

Fashion is constantly changing how men and women dress, but one thing that is relatively constant is the trendy jewelry that accessorizes the latest styles. With a selection of bracelets, bangles, necklaces, charms, earrings, and rings that are ideal for any occasion, the celebrity women who are dressing for themselves are matching up the same items of jewelry that any woman can afford to purchase. Whether wearing a skirt and blouse to work or going out with friends after hours, the accents of a casual jewelry make it easy to go from work to hanging out in a setting. The perfect accessory for whatever the day or evening may bring the jewelry that is comfortable anywhere allows a women to express her beauty, no matter who she is.

When you think about a hair salon in NYC, you may not realize all that they have to offer. Yes they offer amazing cuts, colors, highlights, and styles, but there is more. They do not just stop there. They might offer services that you have never heard of, but could greatly benefit from. This could include services for your hair, nails, feet, and face. It is definitely something worth looking into.

Extensive Services

You might already have services that you get done on a regular basis. You might not even be aware of all that you could have done. These are services that you might not need as often as your other services, but then again, you might enjoy them enough that you want to. Theses services might include things such as; straightening treatments, moisturizing treatments, hand and feet treatments, and then there are facial treatments. Some locations even offer makeup services. These services can be discussed with your stylist or specialist. They can be found to be a great addition to your regular services.

Your Face

Often times people might focus more on their beautiful locks and not so much on their face, at least when it comes to a salon. You might think about going to a dermatologist for your skin. That might be a great option for you, depending on your needs, but there is so much more available that you may not realize. As you are having treatments or procedures done on your tresses, you can also see what quality services are available for your face as well. One big thing that a lot of people are interested in is, makeup application. You might be interested in learning tips and tricks or colors that work with your skin.

Beautiful Nails

Some people pride themselves in having beautiful, well-manicured nails. This does not just apply to women. Men too can have a great manicure and not have polished nails. Women and men alike can enjoy visiting a hair salon in NYC for manicure and pedicure services. You can have full services, polish changes, or enjoy a spa package that can incorporate multiple services. Daily your hands go through a lot and they deserve a little pampering. Think about your feet, they too could use some pampering attention as well. Taking care of your skin, including your feet and hands, is important for your overall wellbeing and health.

When the average American woman is a size 12, it’s a wonder as to why the most popular lingerie chains feature size 0 and smaller women on those posters and in the magazines. It can be frustrating to find something that looks good, feels good, and fits your body and personality, especially when you’re not a life-sized Barbie. Maybe the plus size options at these common stores are narrow. But there is good news for the average and plus-sized women of the world: full figured lingerie is alive and well. In many colors and styles, and for all shapes and sizes, the full figured can feel gorgeous too!

Being a plus sized or curvaceous woman may feel like a limitation at times, especially with clothing options. Maybe it is hard to find the lingerie that makes you feel like a beautiful baby doll. Or perhaps you found a favorite at the store in the mall but were discouraged that they didn’t have it in your size.

A little searching, however, will lead you to various options of plus size baby doll lingerie for some under-your-clothes confidence, or for a night in the bedroom.

Scarves are usually more of an afterthought for most men. If it is cold outside and you face a long walk to work, a wool scarf is functional and warm. But when it comes to accessorizing with scarves – whether they be wool, cashmere, knit, or men’s silk scarves – men have even less of a clue than many women. Scarves, however, have long been a staple for men’s wardrobes, and when you know a few simple rules, you can use scarves with confidence in all formal, dressy, and casual situations without looking odd.

Choosing a Scarf

Most men prefer unobtrusive scarves, meaning that the colors and patterns are not too eye-catching. For men, function is paramount, and a functional scarf is generally long and fairly thin. Depending on your height, choose a scarf that is between 50” and 90”, with 70” being about average. The width should be around 10” wide to keep it from being too thin (which is a more feminine look) and too wide (which makes it very bulky). There are no absolute rules, of course, and your scarf shape, width, and length are entirely up to you and your personal preferences. Choose formal fabrics for formal attire or dressy business attire (silk or cashmere) while saving the more casual knits for your blue jeans days, and select a color or pattern that is to your liking. Darker colors, a nice accent color that isn’t too frou-frou, simple plaids, and other muted patterns are perfect.

To Knot or Not to Knot?

After you’ve chosen your scarf or scarves, the hardest part is already over. Wearing the scarf is almost purely academic at this point. For fall or winter weather, a warm wool or soft cashmere scarf around your neck provides warmth and style. The simplest method is to drape the scarf around the back of your neck and let the ends hang down in front. Tuck the ends under your coat for security on windy days, if you wish, overlapping them for added protection to your chest. To increase warmth, you can also choose to wrap the ends once or twice around your neck, depending on how much length you have to play with. Or you can use an easy overhand knot for a classic look. Finally, get European sophistication with a Parisian knot by folding your scarf in half, holding the folded end in one hand and draping it over the back of your neck; with your other hand, slide the two ends through the folded loop. For situations where formal dress is required, draping cashmere or men’s silk scarves around your neck with no further ornamentation or knotting is understated elegance.

What If It Isn’t Cold Out?

Can you wear men’s silk scarves or other scarves when you aren’t also wearing a coat? Of course. Chilly weather is the perfect time to find and use a great scarf, but when you take off the coat, the scarf can stay on. A Parisian knot, mentioned above, is perfect for scarves worn over your shirt or sweater. Even in warm weather, a linen or cotton scarf can protect your neck from sunburn. With a little practice, you will be able to pull off wearing a scarf with ease and confidence, enjoying the benefits of its functionality while allowing it to add just a touch of sophistication to your everyday apparel.

There has always been a need for specialized clothing from bulletproof vests and clothing to that of fire retardant clothing. Your average Joe does not typically wear these specialty types of clothing on a daily basis. Many different types of specialist in many different fields wear these types of clothing. Here we will take a look at a few of those different types of fields that use fire retardant clothing as well as the different types of fire retardant clothing out there.

Being Fireproof

For thousands of years mankind has looked for ways to make themselves fireproof or fire retardant and for many different reasons. In the past man has tried several different things. They started out with heavy leathers that gave them minimal protections. Throughout time they tried layers of cotton, wool and other fibers to try and come up with something that is more fire retardant with no real success. It wasn’t until the industrial revolution when the need for fire retardant clothing was greatest that chemicals where mixed into the material that some of the first real fire retardant materials were made.

Who uses Them

When the average person thinks of fire retardant clothing they typically think of fire fighters or astronauts. Although this is very much true, they are not the only ones that use fire proof or fire retardant clothing. There are many industries that use fire retardant clothing. Some of the more common industries are oil and chemical, which deal with flammable materials. Depending on the company and what the employees do, the employees can be required to wear fire retardant material all day everyday. Another common industry is that of the electrical industry. This includes individuals who work at the power plants and electricians who work on buildings and offices. Most of the reasoning is that they deal with areas that may give off sparks, which doesn’t react will with fibers like cotton or wool.

Manufacturers

So far we have covered a brief history of mans previous attempt at making fire retardant clothing and the different industries that use fire retardant clothing today. With the many different kinds of fire proof and fire retardant clothing requirements there are many different companies that specialize in making these types of clothing for each industry type. For example, there are companies that specialize in making fire fighter protective clothing and equipment. There are also companies that make specialized clothing for oil and electrical workers. One of the interesting things that you will find with fire retardant clothing in comparison to normal clothing is that the clothing has to meet a certain regulated guideline within industry standards for the different uses of fire retardant materials. The most common thing that you will find about each of these companies is that they protect their clothing making process. There are few companies that tell you what the material is made out of or how they make it, but they will tell you what it does. For most people that is good enough because their biggest concern is that it works and that they have a wide range of sizes.

Moving to a new city or town can be tough, especially if you are unfamiliar with the area or you do not know anyone that already lives there. When you move to a new location, you have to learn where all the best grocery stores, restaurants, shopping malls, automobile repair shops, dentist offices, and hardware stores are located.

While it may take time to locate your favorites, another challenge that many people face when moving is finding a new barber or stylist that they can trust. In fact, many people experience a series of bad haircuts before they find the best barber. If you have just moved to southern Florida and you are feeling a little overwhelmed by the size of the area, then consider these tips to help you find the best Miami barbers around.

Don’t Be Afraid to Ask

One of the best ways to learn about the area is to ask. Many people may feel a little too overwhelmed by their new surroundings to ask strangers about the city. But when you move to a new location, don’t be afraid to ask people about where you can find the best hair specialists. You will save yourself the time and gas money of having to drive around and try a series of barbershops that may be unsatisfactory.

Try a Trim at First

You should also consider getting a trim before you get a drastic haircut. In most cases, it is much more difficult for a stylist to mess up a trim than to ruin a drastic haircut. When you first visit a barber, ask for a trim and be specific about what you want. Then you will have the opportunity to see how the barber works and whether or not you are pleased with the haircut.

Check the Many Reviews Online

Another resource that you can utilize in your new city is the Internet. The Internet is full of useful reviews written by people who have previously visited barbershops and ranked their experiences. These people often provide comments and other helpful feedback that can help you decide which barbershops are the best to visit.

Don’t Forget about the Locals

Make sure that you don’t forget about the local shops. Many people move to new locations and only try the chain locations, which can offer quality haircuts; however, you should try the local locations as well. Many of the best Miami barbers work in local barbershops that have been in the city for years. Just ask around or go online to find the best locations near you.
